When chatting with one of our horticulturalists, Heather, to write this post she said “This is the week. This is the week we have everything here.” With that being said… here is a small look into what we have in our Garden Center right now. If you take anything away from this though, let it be that you really have to come see it in person! The yard is stocked, and the green house is overflowing.
In the Garden Center Yard
Herbs
We have tons of herbs in the Garden Center Yard! All the herbs you know and love and some unique varieties thrown in as well! A staff favorite this year has been the unique mint varieties some of which include… Kiwi Strawberry Mojito, Mint Julep, and Chocolate Mint!
Veg
This is the week to get your tomatoes and peppers in the ground! We are thrilled to be working with a local organic farmer to source our tomatoes and peppers. We have a wide range of peppers from sweet candy cane chocolate cherry peppers to very hot red ghost peppers. Along with the tomatoes and peppers you can find okra, cucumbers, eggplants, pumpkins, spaghetti squash, popping popcorn, peanuts, artichokes and so much more!
Fruit
Strawberry hanging baskets have arrived and they are gorgeous! We still have a few fruit trees as well as berry bushes for sale.
Annuals and Perennials
We still have most of the annual and perennials that we called out in the last New in the Garden Center post, but we are continuing to add so many more! We just got a fresh order of Yarrow, and the Lupinus that we mentioned a few weeks back is finally in bloom and wow are they gorgeous! Scroll down to see a photo of them. In front of the Farm Market and Garden Center you can find out annual hanging baskets! The perfect pop of color for your home.
Rose Bushes
We have a great selection of David Austin Roses this year. These roses are bred in England. Some of the varieties we have include: Queen of Sweden, Boscobel, Darcey Bussell, Tess of the d’Urbevilles, Teasing Georgia, Eustacia Vye, Lady of Shallot.
Water Plants
If you have any type of water in your garden water plants are a great addition! We have a great selection of water plants including Pitcher Plants (great for keeping the mosquitos at bay!) Spiral Rush Juncus effusus, Swamp Milkweed Asclepias incarnata, Lily of the Nile Ever Twilight Agapanthus hybrida, and more!
Native Plants
Our native plant section is continuing to grow every week! We have added some gorgeous Alabama Crimson Honeysuckle Vine. We also still have a nice selection of native trees including Dogwood and Redbuds!
In the Green House
We just got two stunning tropical orders in! Hibiscus, Jasmine, and Oleander are certainly taking center stage. We have lovely citrus and olive trees including, Grapefruit, Key Lime, Myer Lemon, and Guava!
