Coin Shortage – Rounding up for Philabundance

***UPDATE: We are pleased to announce that as of 12/7/2020, Linvilla was able to make a contribution to Philabundance in the amount of $2.553.24 which may be met with a matching grant!***

As the spreading coronavirus and resulting business closures crippled economic activity in the United States, the circulation of coins dropped off significantly. The U.S. Mint, which manufactures the nation’s coin supply, also decreased staffing in response to the pandemic.  As the nation’s businesses reopened, demand for coins exceeded the available supply- leaving businesses unable to get coins from banks.

Linvilla Orchards is no exception.  To address this shortage, Linvilla has instituted a Round up for Philabundance program. Customers can donate their coin change to the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization. Philabundance and Linvilla have partnered for years with Linvilla donating surplus produce and baked goods from the farm and farm market. We appreciate the ability to support Philabundance’s goal to End Hunger. For Good.

Linvilla is now offering our customers the ability to round up their purchase amount to provide monetary assistance to Philabundance and in turn reduce the volume of coins Linvilla needs to supply our customers with change. Linvilla will track the amounts rounded up in the cash register system and will contribute those monies to Philabundance in the form of a check.

Philabundance is now working with community organizations to provide education, financial literacy skills, health services, job training and workforce development in hopes of ending the poverty/hunger cycle that effects so many in our area. Philabundance, and their partner community organizations, provide clients with assistance navigating the various resources available to them to increase the success in breaking the cycle.

Linvilla Orchards could not be prouder to partner with a meaningful and successful organization like Philabundance. We thank you for your consideration.
