Small Space Gardens

Sixty Seconds with Judi

When I think about the quintessential gardener, I visualize a sprawling acre or so of a perfectly placed mix of perennials and annuals that you would see in a magazine. But, we all know that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, there are those who appreciate the plan. They draw up a design and like any good architect, they build a haven of gardens that we all can envy.

However, most of us do not have the time, space or patience to produce such a masterpiece and that is okay! For the rest of us there are container gardens and square foot plots where we can build our own paradise in little spaces with little effort.

Try a large pot of annuals at the front door for some color. Use unusual containers that you have hanging around the house. Try an old tub or wicker basket. Make sure you have drainage holes in the bottom and fill with a good quality potting soil. Plant a variety of annuals and water well. Annuals need to be fed so they can produce those beautiful flowers all summer long.

If you don’t want to touch the dirt, well that is okay too! Try hanging baskets or take off the hanger and plop that basket in an urn or planter. A beautiful garden can be done with little to no effort; all you need is the desire to add a little color to your life.

Come up to the Garden Center and let us help you design your own little spaces. We have a variety of plants and planters for you to choose from. We can help make it easy and fun.
